Hike Description: Back up to the North Rim and the very easy to access Orderville Trailhead right on 89A. Love this trailhead, easy parking and a bathroom…
This time, Tom and I were to head north toward Utah on a very easy 18 mile 1430 feet up / down elevation gain loss hike. In most of these posts, now looking back upon them, I find the real value in the short descriptions of how to find the start trailhead and also the photos. When planning this 4 year long….. Out and Back Adventure…. there was so much of the AZT that I did not know about. What the terrain looks like, how hard was it to drive to the trail, etc… My hope upon hope in this blog is that someone like me from 4 years ago can find this information valuable. Like the fact, Orderville Trailhead is virtually on the 89A highway just east (like really really close) of Jacob’s Lake.
The hike itself was a good little hike. We actually got to the trailhead early enough to push the mileage a little and our speed on this hike was a really rocking 3.4 mph. Originally to be 16 miles we went a little over and thus shorten the next hiking section north, Hike #75. If you wish you can leave them as 16 miles and 16 miles.
As you hike north, the terrain starts to turn into scrubs with shorter pines and you will hike thru a couple large sections of freshly logged timber. Other than that, trail trail and more trail.
Enjoy the photos and happy hiking.
